Brow Lamination Aftercare - The Do's and Don'ts After the Treatment
Brow Lamination, also called a brow lift, will help you with gaps, thinning, unruliness, or overplucking your eyebrows. The brushed up, and polished results will visually increase the volume and expand the shape of your natural eyebrows. The hair length creates thickness, while baby hair covers holes and gaps. If your brow gaps are prominent, use eyebrow enhancing serum to fill them in or ask during the procedure for a tint.
Brow Lamination will enhance the brows that you already have by manipulating the hairs into place to set them into a uniform shape. Please note that the hairs will still move and will need to be brushed daily. If you want them to stay in the shape that has been created a Brow gel is recommended.
How to Prep for a Brow Lamination
- Avoid using exfoliants, retinoids, or AHAs on your face for one to two weeks before your brow lamination.
- Avoid tweezing at least one week prior to your appointment (if you're interested, we do offer the option to add on a brow wax to your lamination appointment)
- A patch test is required for this treatment to understand each client's tolerance to the chemicals being used.
- Avoid any blood thinning medications at least 72 hours prior to your appointment. This includes Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Vitamin E, Niacin, and fish oil supplements.
Brow Lamination Aftercare
To avoid skin irritation, hair or skin dryness after the chemical treatment or to prolong the brow lamination effect, the following aftercare is recommended:
Day 1:
- Don't wet or rub your eyebrows for 24 hours.
- Don't apply any cream, oils or makeup on eyebrows.
- Avoid sun exposure, sunbeds, sauna, shower, excessive sweat, and swimming pools for 48 hours.
- Do not apply Retin-A, AHA ("alpha-hydroxy acids"), and do not exfoliate the brow area for at least 72 hours before or after the brow treatment.
- Avoid sleeping on your front (or on your face) within the first 24-48 hours.
Day 2:
- Avoid contact with direct sunlight, sunbeds, saunas, steam rooms and swimming pools.
- Do not apply Retin-A, AHA ("alpha-hydroxy acids"), and do not exfoliate the brow area.
Day 3+:
- It is strongly recommended (and essential) that you apply a conditioning serum twice daily after brow lamination to maintain healthy, hydrated eyebrow hairs. We recommend either the The Elleebana Advance Aftercare or the RevitaLash Lash and Brow Masque.
We recommend booking your Brow Lamination service every 6-8 weeks to maintain the semi-permanent affect.
